FROM THE PATH
COFFEE, CONVERSATION & BALANCED LEADERSHIP
I was on day 89 of my "walking myself home" project and the theme that had come to me that morning was: allow yourself to be surprised. After 4 days of being surrounded by a group of amazing women, I found myself alone at breakfast — settling in with a beautiful Latte Macchiato, honouring the silence.
Another guest caught my eye — a man in his mid-thirties who had taken out what looked like a journal. I watched him close his eyes, tune in and then write. I could not help but smile as I realised: I do not believe I have ever met another man having a practice mirroring mine.
An inner movement — which I have come to trust — kept bubbling up, inviting me to reach out and engage in a conversation with him.
His name was Sebastian. In those few minutes he shared how his father's heart attack had woken him up — how he had left the building business to work for a town council. His friends were delighted he had re-prioritised living a full life.
He talked about the relationship dimension and how it is hard for men to find their place and be allowed to help and serve women. I could sense a wish and disheartenment in his energy — his sincere seeking to understand and being at loss as to what to do to belong.
No different to the women we had just led through an inner leadership journey, Sebastian was looking to reconnect with his authenticity and to experience and stand for balanced leadership. The one where it is not an us versus them — but a very personal blend.
We did not exchange contact details — that was not what it was about. But for both of us, that brief conversation marked our day and would further fuel the fire to do our part in seeing people's light and helping them figure out where they belong. This is some text inside of a div block.
